Solidarity Christmas at Figueras 2024
The shipyard workers distribute more than 10,000 euros in solidarity donations.
Once again, and following the success of previous years, the works council of Astilleros GONDAN has carried out a Christmas lottery sales campaign including a financial donation. On this occasion, the shipyard workers and their subcontractors, with the collaboration of the company itself, have donated the amount collected, dividing it between the organisations Fraternidad and Fundación Edes (2000 euros each), the association Figueras solidario ( 2000 euros) as well as 900 euros dedicated to the collection of basic necessities for the Food Bank promoted by the Castropol Town Council.
Likewise, in November, on the occasion of the delivery of the C503 Vestri Enabler, the Norwegian shipowner Edda Wind made a donation of 4000 euros to the company’s workers, to be donated to local non-profit organisations. The GONDAN workers then decided to add the economic contribution received from the shipowner to the Christmas donations to the local associations: Asociación Fraternidad and Fundación Edes.
Fraternidad is a non-profit association aimed at providing comprehensive care for people with intellectual disabilities over the age of 16, while the Edes Foundation is also a non-profit organisation that has been working in the rural area of north-western Asturias and Mariña Lucense since 1999, offering specialised services and support to guarantee the exercise of rights, access to resources and the social inclusion of each person with disabilities in rural areas. For its part, the Figueras Solidarity Association seeks to support patients in the health area of western Asturias.
