Phenix is the first of a series of 4 innovative tugs built by GONDAN between 2005 and 2008, in close cooperation with propulsion specialist Voith-Schneider and Norwegian marine consulting firm Carl J. Amundsen Consultants A/S. Thanks to their bespoke hull lines incorporating a bulbous bow, sponsons and bilge keels, these compact escort tugs achieve exceptional steering forces, unprecedented for vessels of their size, as well as being the first compact tugs to incorporate the Voith Turbo Fin (VTF) system in their specially designed skegs.
