GONDAN receives an order for two CSOVs for Edda Wind
GONDAN Shipbuilders receives an order for the construction of two CSOVs (Commissioning Service Operation Vessels) for the Norwegian owner Edda Wind, the offshore wind company jointly owned by the Wilhelmsen Group and Østensjø Group.
These vessels, designed by the Norwegian firm Salt Ship Design, will be part of Edda Wind’s rapidly expanding new fleet of 8 environmentally friendly ships designed to provide services to offshore windfarms. This contract will also strengthen GONDAN’s position as a leading European shipyard in the offshore wind energy sector, having secured 6 contracts for this industry since 2015.
GONDAN takes pride on being chosen again by Edda Wind, one of the most reputed ship owning companies in the industry and an early adopter of innovative and environmentally friendly solutions, leading the way towards a greener and more sustainable shipping industry.
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, GONDAN faces 2021 with optimism, with a present orderbook of five vessels, a sound financial position and plans for an ambitious investment program in order to significantly increase its production capacity to be able to offer competitive delivery times. This way the shipyard will be ready to face new projects on the industries in which it is involved, such as offshore renewables, offshore O&G, high performance towage, fishing, aquaculture or oceanography.
At the time of their delivery, the last of these two CSOVS will become the 17th vessel built in cooperation between GONDAN and the relation to the Østensjø Group over almost 20 years of successful relationship based on a common mindset: Being frontrunners in the introduction of innovative technologies on board, providing the market with low environmental footprint and safe vessels built according to the highest standards of shipbuilding.
