GONDAN partner of SHIP-AHOY project

GONDAN Shipbuilders is part of Ship-aH2oy project. It involves 17 partners from 7 European countries and aims to introduce high-temperature solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) and liquid organic hydrogen carrier (LOHC) technology for marine use. In combination with efficient heat integration, this will result in a scalable, safe, and sustainable power and heat generation system on board ships.

GONDAN will bring to this project its experience as a leading shipbuilder of CSOVs (Commissioning and Service Operation Vessels), with regards to the detailed engineering for the integration and installation of a 1 MW hydrogen power system, composed of a fuel cell module and a hydrogen release unit, on board one of the new vessels of Edda Wind.  The new fleet of CSOVs from Edda Wind, one of the leading operators in this market, which is being built in GONDAN, is designed for the use of on-board hydrogen power generation (LOHC) technology of up to 3MW power.

The European Climate Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) has funded the project with EUR 15 million over a five-year period.
