GONDAN invests on improving welding processes

The shipyard, following its policy of committing on the future and growth for the region, is currently facing an investment plan that focuses on the improvement of its facilities and equipment to increase its competitiveness. Specifically, in the last few weeks, GONDAN has installed a welding robot: PEMA VRWP-C in its steel workshops.

In addition to the traditional steel fabrication focused on manual welding, the shipyard will now have a robotic welding robot to complement this work, and allow it to increase the level of automation, accelerate welding capacity, and therefore maintain its competitive edge in global shipbuilding markets.

In recent years, robotic technology has greatly developed and matured in its application to the shipbuilding sector. This investment will enable the company to optimize production times, shortening delivery times; increase its overall capacity and productivity, providing greater control of welding processes and minimizing imperfections, while reducing its environmental footprint.

The equipment has been installed in a recently built workshop where some 20 operators specialized in welding will work and will be fully operational in the next few weeks.
