GONDAN delivered the patrol vessel Rio Esera
Recently, GONDAN Shipbuilders has delivered the second unit of a construction program of three patrol boats for the Spanish Civil Guard, which will be destined for different captaincies: Rio Guadalhorce to Santander (delivered at the end of last year), Rio Ésera to Gijón, and Rio Oja to Alicante.
The vessels, similar to those also built for the Civil Guard in 2015, have a length of approximately 20 m and a beam of 5 m. These last ones present some novelties, among them, it is worth mentioning the new version of the MAN V12 engines that reach 1200 hp at 2100 rpm and the Kamewa jets, in their new version S40-3, which allow the patrol vessel to overcome the 36 knots.
The ships, intended for sustained navigation, have been designed and equipped for missions to monitor maritime fishing, fight drug trafficking and perform rescue at sea, in addition to protecting the marine environment, within the scope of the duties of the Spanish Civil Guard.
In total, at the end of the last construction program, the GONDAN GRP Division will have delivered 5 vessels to the Spanish Civil Guard. In recent years it has also specialized in the construction of passenger catamarans for shipping companies such as Baleària, the Croatian Krilo HR and Lineas Romero, for a total of seven contracts of this type. Thanks to its modern facilities, it can build vessels up to 45 meters in length, since it has a covered area of 5,400 m2, of which 2,700 are automatically heated to keep the laminating process in the optimum temperature and humidity range. In addition, it has a 1,360 m2 warehouse for assembly with a 350 m2 annex workshop for metal carpentry work, and specialized warehouses.
