GONDAN celebrates the naming ceremony of the “Luis R” express ferry for Líneas Romero
On July 24, Astilleros GONDAN celebrated the naming ceremony of the “Luis R” catamaran, an express ferry from a series of two vessels built in our Fiber Division for Líneas Romero, a company specializing in maritime passenger transport and tourist services in Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, and La Graciosa, which has once again placed its trust in GONDAN, as it did previously for the construction of the Don Juan R and the Alexandro R. The event was attended by executives and family members of Líneas Romero, as well as representatives and managers of the shipyard.
This passenger ship is designed for short-distance trips around Lanzarote, with hulls featuring high-buoyancy bows that allow it to maintain speed in adverse sea conditions, including a central bulb. It has a total length of 31m, a beam of 10.50m, and a capacity to carry 363 passengers.
The event began with an emotional moment, the revelation of the name of the ferry “Luis R”, which was kept in secret until the last moment to surprise Luis Romero, shipowner, who was thrilled to discover that the vessel would bear his name. This was followed by the naming ceremony with María José Platero acting as the ladysponsor. Finally, the afternoon culminated with the launch of the vessel, which will remain docked at the fiber division’s pier to continue with the next phases of outfitting.
