GONDAN CELEBRATES THE LAUNCH OF THE C513 OESV, THE LARGEST VESSEL IN ITS HISTORY, FOR ØSTENSJØ REDERI
GONDAN Shipbuilders has reached a new historic milestone today at its Figueras facility with the successful launching of the new “513 OESV” for the Norwegian shipowner Østensjø Rederi A/S. This is the largest vessel ever built by the shipyard, solidifying its position as an international leader in the construction of technologically advanced vessels for the marine energy sector. The vessel, designed by the prestigious Norwegian firm Salt Ship Design, stands out for its advanced engineering and operational optimization.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the shipowner company, a key client of the utmost importance to GONDAN. With this new vessel, the total number of ships built for this Nordic shipowner now stands at 23; the shipyard has maintained a close and fruitful relationship with the company for more than 20 years. We at GONDAN would like to express our sincere gratitude to Østensjø Rederi for its continued trust over the past two decades—a partnership that has enabled both companies to lead innovation in the offshore maritime sector.
Innovation and Versatility for the Offshore Market
The “513 OESV” (Ocean Energy Support Vessel), with a length of 120 meters and a beam of 23 meters, has been designed to excel in a wide range of complex operations from a single operational platform. Among its many capabilities, the vessel is equipped for the safe transport of personnel (W2W), support for CSOV wind energy operations, offshore construction, subsea installations, inspection operations using ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles), and cable laying and repair.
Built of steel to the classification standards of the prestigious DNV, the vessel stands out for its high levels of sustainability and technological performance:
- Efficient propulsion: Equipped with a diesel-electric system featuring 6 variable-speed main engines and PM Brunvoll azimuth thrusters.
- Ready for alternative fuels: It features advanced decarbonization solutions, including battery systems (Battery Power), Shore Power and the Fuel Ready notation, which will allow it to operate in the feature with clean fuels such as methanol (MeOH).
- Cargo capacity and accommodation: It has 1,400 m² of open deck space (including the hangar) and first class accommodation capable of housing up to 173 people on board.
Following the launch, the vessel will undergo its final phase of outfitting at sea and subsequent sea trials in the coming months, in preparation for its scheduled delivery in late 2027. This launch reaffirms GONDAN’s robust workload and its ability to undertake large-scale projects to the highest quality standards.
