Alvaro Platero Díaz, Distinguished Son of the municipality of Catropol
The Castropol Town Council has officially recognized Alvaro Platero Díaz, president of the GONDAN group, with the title of Distinguished Son, in an institutional ceremony held on Thursday, August 21. The distinction, approved unanimously by the municipal plenary, highlights his contribution to the economic, social, and industrial development of the municipality and the Principality of Asturias.
The tribute brought together regional and local authorities, representatives of the business and social fabric, as well as family members, friends, shipyard workers, and residents of the municipality.The ceremony was attended by the Vice President of the Principality of Asturias, Gimena Llamedo, the Director of the Princess of Asturias Foundation, Teresa Sanjurjo, and the Mayor of Castropol, Francisco Vinjoy. From their different perspectives, they all highlighted the importance of a career that has managed to combine tradition, modernity, roots, and vision, leaving a deep mark on both the municipality and Asturias as a whole.
With this appointment, Castropol adds Alvaro Platero to a select group of favorite sons in recognition of his work and connection to the land.
